A Voice For ThoseWho
Can No Longer Speak

We are in the midst of an unprecedented opioid epidemic. More than 136 people a day die from opioid-related drug overdoses. The national overdose death rate has increased by 255.74% since the early 2000s taking away children as young as 12 years old.

20 million counterfeit pills...

According to the DEA, drug traffickers are using fake pills to exploit the opioid crisis and prescription drug misuse. The agency's lab testing revealed the counterfeit pills often contain a lethal dose of fentanyl.

The DEA said almost all of the illicit drugs are entering through Mexico, and that the counterfeit pills look almost identical to the real prescriptions received from a pharmacy, including Adderall, Oxycontin, Percocet, Vicodin and more...

The Moment Everything Changed.

On September 8, 2017, a voice on the phone uttered “no” after I had asked if our only son was still breathing.

That "no" will ring in my heart forever...

The call ended true happiness for me, as you can imagine. But it did not end my desire for answers—and a craving to extract some meaning from our personal grief.

The culprit? Fentanyl.

My son had fallen victim to a Xanax pill he had bought on campus—a pill that turned out to be laced with the deadly opioid that ended his life that night

For what seemed like hours, I sat on the side of the highway until I began to experience some grief stricken motivation

What makes moments like this most frightening was that this could've happened to anyone…

This was my son, a University of Colorado sophomore. He was a good kid… The last kid you'd expect this out of.

I knew from there one out that I had to do whatever I could to keep other parents from receiving that same call. We had to combat the opioid epidemic—the worst drug crisis in American history.

OPIOID CRISIS

PROBLEM
The CDC has been tracking the opioid crisis since the 1990s. The rise of synthetic opioids - specifically those involving illicitly manufactured fentanyl and its analogues – has doubled deaths in Americans under 50 years old since the late 2010s. The market for illicitly manufactured fentanyl continues to change, and it can be found in combination with heroin, counterfeit pills, and cocaine.
SOLUTION
As part of Eric Bolling’s drive to contain the crisis, The Eric Chase Foundation was founded in his late son’s memory. The Foundation’s mission is to build awareness and share educational messaging with Americans about the severity of the opioid epidemic. The Foundation educates audiences through targeted public service announcements, social media, TV, radio, and other news outlets. It also educates through short films telling stories of substance abuse, recovery and how we can help. Simply put, donations to the Foundation saves lives.

When the Prescription Becomes the Problem...

In the late 1990s, pharmaceutical companies reassured the medical community that patients would not become dependent on prescription opioid pain relievers, and healthcare providers began to prescribe them at greater rates. This subsequently led to widespread diversion and misuse of these medications before it became clear that these medications could indeed be highly addictive
  • Roughly 21 to 29 percent of patients prescribed opioids for chronic pain misuse them
  • Between 8 and 12 percent of people using an opioid for chronic pain develop an opioid use disorder
  • An estimated 4 to 6 percent who misuse prescription opioids transition to heroin
  • About 80 percent of people who use heroin first misused prescription opioids

ENDING the OPIOID EPIDEMIC

Opioids Are Killing Indiscriminately...
We don't think about the statistics when we are surrounded by
manicured lawns, beautiful homes, or our families. Thousands of individuals and families are faced with sadness, and the loss of a loved one, especially when over 10 million people each year face an opioid dependency, and more than half of our children aged 12 and older face peer pressures of drug usage. All these indicators reveal the dire needs for community support. We need your help to fight this opioid crisis affecting our nation.

Seven Reasons

to support the Eric Chase Foundation:

1 OUR FOCUS IS COMMUNITY.

More than 136 people a day die from opioid-related drug overdoses. With your help, the Foundation funds education about opioids and advocacy for new regulations.

2 CHANGE THE STATISTIC.

Approximately 10.3 million people aged 12 or older misused opioids in 2018. Your donation to the Foundation will help us end the stigma of dependency.

3 FAMILY MATTERS.

We are sensitive and responsive to the various needs and interests of family members who have dealt with a loved one's death, such as our Founder, Eric Bolling. We help bring awareness, education, and dialogue to the opioid crisis to address this problem that affects so many Americans.

4 TAX ADVANTAGES.

As a private charity, the Foundation still offers a tax advantage for most gifts under federal law. Give today!

5 EXCEPTIONAL REPUTATION FOR EFFECTIVENESS.

Helping families and individuals understand and change the course of this opioid crisis is what we do. The Foundation utilizes its dedicated group of experts, nonprofits, and partnerships to spread awareness.

6 INCREASED LEVERAGE.

The Foundation can multiply the impact of your giving by pooling and amplifying the dollars you donate with the other gifts, grants, and in-kind contributions we receive. We have many strategic partnerships working alongside your donation -- from celebrities and media networks to professional sports teams and health care corporations – we are all in this fight together. A United Front...

The Eric Chase Foundation recognizes the link between drug and child trafficking, and we are focusing on combatting child trafficking by creating awareness through PSA’s and short films.

In partnership with Goya Cares, the Eric Chase Foundation is launching a coalition to rescue, rehabilitate, and reunite young victims of human and drug trafficking. Human trafficking and drug trafficking are inextricably linked, as child traffickers often use drugs as a means to lure and then control their victims.

Trafficking is a crime of exploitation; traffickers profit at the expense of their victims by manipulating or forcing them into performing labor or engaging in commercial sex, often by drugging their victims.

In 2016, the International Organization for Migration reported that at any given time, an estimated 24 million people worldwide were in forced labor or were victims of sexual exploitation as a result of human trafficking and the statistics have only increased since then. The DEA reports about 25% of survivors struggle with opioid addiction.

Join Us In The Fight

By thinking of this epidemic not just in terms of statistics but as a
human story, we have the potential to reduce or even eliminate the statistics. At the Foundation, we have significant goals, and with your generous support, we can achieve those goals, and fight this epidemic, together. Help us support the next generation and work together to strengthen fragile families and communities. Thank you for considering a gift to the Eric Chase Foundation as we work to make our community and nation a better place to live.
